What did we do?
We organized a stress management program "Healthy body Joyful mind" for Pune Municipal Corporation employees during the Covid-19 Pandemic crisis. These employees were undergoing extreme stress due to the crisis , workload and uncertainty. Manahsrushti decided to lend a helping hand by organising this program for 3500+ PMC employees like , PMC engineers , clerical staff and cleaning staff. This program was carried on in the time span of 3 months for free of cost. A team of 32 field volunteers , 10 teachers and 5 clerical staff were working tirelessly to make this program run smoothly.
Project Journey
After the discussion with IAS officer Mr. Saurabh Rao, our founder Mr. Nikhil Walkikar conducted a small session for about 100 people which included IAS officers , Mayor and officers of PMC. After this small session the organization was told to conduct this stress management program for all PMC workers. 9 out of 15 wards were allotted to Manahsrushti to conduct the program. A group of 10 teachers was trained to help conduct the program on a large scale. On 10th August , last day of the training program a concluding ceremony was conducted at Ganesh Kala Krida in the presence of Mr. Saurabh Rao
User Group
All employees from 9 wards of PMC participated in the "Healthy Body Joyful Mind" workshop. This included the PMC engineers , Clerical staff and the Cleaning staff. Due to the pandemic all these employees were overloaded with work. They were worried about their and their families health. The employees were working constantly with the anxiety of putting themselves at risk. Considering all these factors the Healthy Body Joyful Mind workshop was specifically designed for this group.
The workshop was designed in a way that the employees were taught to take care of their physical and mental health during the times of the Pandemic. Various physical exercises were taught and diet tips were also given to the employees. The employees were trained to manage their negative thoughts and to maintain a positive mindset. The module of the workshop was designed considering the motive to reduce the fear of working amidst the corona crisis and making these PMC employees more healthy and confident.
The " train the trainers" initiative further helped to increase the working efficiency of the employees.
This program turned out to be an enriching experience for us. We had to face a lot of problems initially and had to overcome a lot of limitations. We had to overcome our own fears and insecurities , which led to the sense of self growth. Our journey for this project was from confusion to patience to satisfaction of serving PMC employees. Seeing the PMC employees become more aware of the situation , learning to take care of themselves and being psychologically fit gave us the feeling of fulfillment. The PMC employees experienced enhancement in their mental strength , their unnecessary fear was reduced. Being able to experience and help, in someone's very personal journey from fear to confidence is phenomenal. This overall experience has given us the feeling of gratification , contentment , happiness and peace.
